3 Lessons From Grandfathers Who Aged Well
How to stay grounded when everyone else chases trends
I love talking with grandfathers who’ve aged well. They have three traits I love.
First, they’re kind but unfiltered in their opinions. They don’t apologize for who they are, and they don’t pander to the whims of the crowd.
Second, they don’t mind repeating themselves. When you’ve gotten to the heart of the matter and the rest of the world gets distracted, repeating yourself becomes a feature, not a bug.
Third, they focus on what matters most. While others chase every new trend, these grandfathers have learned to distinguish between what's truly important and what's just noise. They've seen enough cycles to know which principles endure.
In the past, I got worried about repeating myself.
Today, I’ve changed my mind.
The most important things aren’t magical.
The best things bear repeating.
Yes, you need to follow the trends in the world.
But there are many people who will tell you how to do this.
Very few will help you do that while keeping you grounded on what will never change.
