Escaping vs. Solving: A Critical Mistake

Why avoiding tough decisions keeps you stuck longer

If you’re human, you’ve had to navigate challenging situations:

  • partnership conflicts

  • relational challenges

  • cashflow challenges

  • health issues

  • personnel issues

I love this quote from Alex Charfen:

The only perfect business, the only business with no problems, no challenges, no issues, is the one that closed down.

-Alex Charfen, Momentum Podcast #59

If you find yourself in a challenging situation, you need to know two things:

  1. You will not escape your current situation until you learn the lesson.

  2. Attempting to escape your current situation will keep you from learning the lesson.

This leads to a simple, uncomfortable conclusion:

The fastest way out of your situation is through it.

You will not learn the lesson without facing the situation head-on. Avoidance is the achilles’ heel of every human—including myself.

  • What situation are you tolerating right now?

  • What conversation or action are you avoiding?

  • Where are you hoping for someone else to save you?

Perhaps most importantly:

Would you be willing to take the first step to walk through this situation?
