I thought I was the only one who thought like that
What I noticed at the Spurs game that no one talks about (and why it matters for your life)
āI thought I was the only one who thought like that.ā
Tuesday evening, I got to fulfill one of my wifeās bucket list dreams: seeing the Spurs play in person. Too bad she couldnāt go along!
(So far, it looks like our marriage will survive the bump, lol.)
I love hanging out with my friends.
Itās great seeing players in the zoneā¦
I can imagine the satisfaction of draining a free throw when youāve got a whole arena booing youā¦
(Confession, though: I was cheering for the Nuggetsā¦)
What struck me?
Yes, the arena was full of energyā¦
But it was also strangely numb.
Iām used to being around people who are:
Grounded
Engaged
In the flow
Alive
It made me wonderā¦
How many of the fans are living vicariously, medicating their own insecurities and lack of fulfillment with a sports team? Needing someone else to win because theyāre not winning themselves?
Iām sure itās not universalā¦
But Iām also sure itās a thing, even if subconsciously.
When I shared this in a conversation this morning, I heard:
āI thought I was the only one who thought like that.ā
I might be weird here, but Iām not the only weird one, lol.
So hereās the thingā¦
Itās tempting to live vicariously.
Itās tempting to just survive.
But you were born to win.
Make sure youāre in the right game.
And when you beat your opponent in a tight game, 105 to 100ā¦
Iāll be here for you, cheering my head offā¦
GO, GO, GO!
