Why a Scientist's Failed Video Got 59M Views

One change. Same content. Completely different results.

Last week, I watched a video of Dr. Derek Muller, a scientist on YouTube. He shared how he’d put together an exceptional video, but he got almost no views.

Someone reposted it with a better title, and it got traction. Fortunately, because he created the content, he was able to monetize that video.

Then, he took the exact video, changed its title, and watched it accelerate.

Interestingly, he posted this video 3 years ago, and YouTube recommended it to me.

Here’s why it matters for you.

You can have the best product in the world.
But if you can’t package it in a way the world wants to buy, it doesn’t matter.

This story struck me because…
It’s exactly where I’m at.
It’s exactly what I’m fixing in my business rightn ow.

But chances are, you’ve got a version of this…

You’ve got an exceptional product or service.
But because the package isn’t as nice as the next person’s, customers are passing you by.

The difference between exceptional salesmanship & slick salesmanship is NOT based on the intrigue, curiosity, or unusual claims.

It’s from being able to drift up to the edge of believability, while making sure it’s completely true and that you can deliver on your promise.

Some are taking advantage of this to deceive people and make a quick buck.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably not that kind of person.
So please…

Do what you can to package your products & services well.

PS - My core business is working with shed companies, but I do other consulting from time to time. If you want to chat about what I’m learning & how it applies to you, please reach out.
